Some items to consider:

A standing wave where the dimensions of the room coincide with the
length of the wave form.

Change the location of the piano in the room.

Exchange two hammers to determine if the problem moves or stays.

Pluck the strings to see if that changes the perception of tone.

Sometimes a single needle stitch from left to right about half way
from strike point to molding point will increase sustain.

A resonance in the hollow head.

Move your head.
