Hi Ed.
This is true by comparison with most, but expecting the product
to run for 20yrs will little to no maintainence has brought the chickens
home to roost.
In a perfect world, hammers and shanks, key bushings, and treble stringing
could be done on them all after 10yrs.
It is a quantum leap forward for them to plan on doing this to two grands a
year. Trouble is 15yrs from now some of the 30yr old product will be 45yr
old. Treble hammers playing on the moldings. <G> Yet they have dug up
some money for a New Fortepiano, now go figure that one.
The 20's Steinway M got the complete job, (less board) last year, that was
my whole repair budget poof. Nice piano. It was ear marked for a class
room, every one hated it. Now in the head of dept studio.
Regards Roger.
