Hi all, In recent years, I have had new heat mirror windows installed as well as having the roof opened up with a ridge vent at the top., and ventilation all along the soffits. I have a ranch style home with a hip roof so the soffit area is quite wide. There are two ventilating roof fans in the attic that automatically go on when the temperature reaches 85 degrees or the humidity 60%. I also have a humidifier that is installed directly on the furnace and central air for the summer. The results have been a constant 45%RH through the winter and no more than 60% RH in the summer. I also use a high quality 3M Filtrete air filter which I religeously change every three months (we hardly ever have to dust). My Steinway "O" hardly goes out of tune and the pins and board are as tight as ever. The other giveaway when the inside RH is insufficient is when you walk around on pile carpets and you suddenly touch something that releases the static electricity caused by this and you see and feel that blue spark. This is especially painful when you go to kiss your spouse or SO. Just another unsolicited testimonial from someone who lives in the lake effect area of central New York. Paul Paul Kupelian
