I can see several sources of such a problem

Lifting coils too forcibly
Tapping coils down to level coils too forcibly
Brittle wire
Too tight a bend to make the beckett
Repinned?
Use of an impact coil lifter

Take your pick.  Whatever it is it is metal fatigue.

Replace them as they break

Restring the most offensive section(s).
