The key dip defines how far "up and out" the jack moves. Be glad you can lift the wippen further than the key does for that tells you the jack is not binding against it's stop. I would suggest you look at the following: Jack position re: the knuckle insert. Key dip After touch. Put .050" punchings on top of the front punching and determine how much key movement there is after the jack has lost contact with the knuckle. There should be none. That .050" is the clearance needed. More is not desirable, less than is also not desirable. Adjust the dip accordingly. Jack stop cushion. if there is too much movement then replace it with thicker or glue on a thin piece of name board felt. Put the glue on the old felt before applying the new felt. There are other considerations but likely not applying here. Action geometry, jack geometry, key ratios (unless these problems are all on sharps). Hope this helps. Newton
