My only apprehension would be that your dealing with two parts that might tip over. While trying to remove the plate, there is going to be a certain amount of jiggling. That might cause the case to fall over. I guess you can have the piano case sitting next to a wall. You have brought up another possible solution to getting plate back in, in case the beams on my porch roof are not strong enough.
