To Willem and Others, IMHO the work plan or work analysis which Willem has designed would make an excellent article and lecture. Caut techs really need to consider and discuss as a group how time is allocated. Achieving the best balance here is probably the most significant thing to either make or break us. Considering it myself has been and is pretty humbling. Our inventories visually and aurally portray what we are doing, but to see it on paper is uniquely revealing. It is also is great to be prepared with if an administrator studies our job, or when faculty complain certain pianos are not getting fair share. It could be used in conjunction with the workload formula to further support need for more help. The problems with using it to develop recommended workload are not really the fault of the design concept, but the faults of a corrupt world. In a perfect situation where there is absolute honesty, trust, equality of technician skills, and perfect ability to predict the time frame of particular jobs, it would be the best workload formula. But universities are hardly perfect worlds. -Mike Jorgensen
