Partly because of the individual technician and what he or she wants to do. Between the website, client file, building the business, estimating and management of estimates, vending work (including rebuilding), there is plenty to do, all of it useful, not all of it necessary. But a private technician who has a handle on this - and may actually get some secretarial help for some of it - is also probably generating income in the higher income bracket as well.
