"By the bass bridge" is a pretty broad descriptor. Can you be a bit more =
specific? Or, better yet, a picture?

  Subject: Cracked Plate

  Dear List,

I have a 1987 Hamburg Steinway D with a cracked plate. The crack is =
small and located by the bass bridge. At this point it doesn't seem to =
be affecting the tuning stability but the piano needs new strings. Does =
anyone know if Steinway in Hamburg would install a new plate?? Is there =
a way to repair this situation??

  Thank You

  Scott
