---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Yamaha used to provide a kit to improve the low tenor with wound bichords. I did this once, and had a favorable result. Since I was replacing 4 plain trichords (6 hitchpins) with 4 bichords, I had to add two hitchpins. I didn't get them in the exact right place, so my nice new Yamaha strings didn't match perfectly, but it was a big improvement over the original plain wire, and the piano owner who had been through a bunch of other technicians was happy. You also wind up with four dummy tuning pins (assuming you're doing this in the field and not plugging the plate holes.) I don't think Yamaha provides the kit anymore, but they must have the information. The kit had the strings, hitchpins, a drill bit for the hitchpins (I think), agraffes and bichord damper felt.
