One factor in that discussion which in a practical sense often makes the
difference- is that the two companies exist in completely separate markets-
by their own choice.  It is very difficult to purchase a new hamburg in
this country or a new york in Germany.  That is just the way it is.  We
recently purchased a new D from new york- and love the piano.  It is a
gem.  Originally we wanted a hamburg, but it all worked out fine in the
end.  Either way you will want to make a personal selection.
