Thinned shanks

For those wanting to try thinned shanks they are available from Wally 
Brooks.  Kawai doesn't have the corner on them.  Check out the diameter 
of a shank from 1900 versus a shank from 1980.  Did they know something 
back then we have over analyzed today?

For those wanting to try thinned shanks on already installed 
shanks/hammers it is pretty easy and takes about two hours.
