[CAUT] NASM Standards

Don McKechnie, and colleagues -
 
NASM and other accrediting agencies seem to perform a function in being the  
'conservative' force in academia.  Their accreditation process assures that  
the various schools adhere to more or less defined standards.  CAUT is  
certainly on the right track in seeking some input into those standards.   However, 
the very conservatism of the accreditation process makes it difficult  to 
inject anything new.  I suppose that's OK in the long run.  And  CAUT is definitely 
in it for the long run!  The first steps in that  direction were about 25 
years ago.  Indeed, increasing our presence in  CSM is sure to bear fruit in NASM 
sooner or later.  Thank you, Don, and  CAUT Committee for carrying that 
torch!
