Ed Sutton asks what is my objection to carefully applying ProLube to the string bearing points with an artist brush. Ed, as a matter policy, I just stay away from putting anything on strings, at the bearing points or elsewhere, especially if I don't know what's in the stuff. In the past, I have tried different things at the bearing surfaces in pianos that were about ready to be restrung anyway, just to see what would happen, but I didn't find it to be much help. Sincerely, Jim Ellis
