I remember when this was done.  The school said that businesses that
contract with schools for research work think a research school's name
starts with "University".  "University of North Texas" sounded better.
I guess they overlooked some lesser research schools like MIT and Cal
Tech.

I'm not sure why they renamed my school from NTSU (North Texas State
Univ,) to UNT. Maybe because we called it the "nut-zoo". Sam Houston
Institute of Technology, on the other hand......
