I stopped using hot hide glue a few years ago, too high of a failure rate. Even when mixing with distilled water. I've been using Bolduc. I only spin one or two rotations and 'rock' it into position. I don't have the good fortune of hitting alignment first off, so there is some back and forth rotating of the hammer so that should relieve the 'imparted torsional forces'. Also, why doesn't the bass section twist. It's mostly the top two treble sections and with a few in the tenor. Misalignment doesn't occur within the first days weeks or months. -- Regards, Jon Page
