[CAUT] Storing spare bass strings

Hi,
I'd like to take this question a bit farther. When I came here in
1998, there had been a set of bass strings here for an S&S D for
years. I don't know how many years, but my predecessor spoke of in
the twenties when he showed them to me. They are in a cabinet, still
in their original box. coiled, except for two strings, which were
used as replacements at some time over the years. They still look
like new.

I wouldn't mind replacing the bass strings on an old D in our band
room. Would you chance using this set? Are they still good enough
for replacements?

Thanks,
Jeff
