Thank you Mark, Ron and Ric. The Wapin Bridge System has become an important part of a number of rebuilders skills. For the record the A/B comparison seminar has been done many times. And yes we at Wapin Company, LLP are all "lowly" technicians. Ric, "51" (a 1951 S&SD) which you saw on your visit here was preferred by Olga Kern when she was here two weeks ago. "51" has a Wapin Bridge. I lowered the hammerline an eight of an inch since you saw it and the sound hits you so fast it hurts your ears. But what Olga Kern liked was the abililty to play softly. This is the second time I have worked for her. She was able to overpower the orchestra with this piano. I know most of the people on this list will say "I didn't get to hear "51" before". As far as I'm concerned, when someone like Olga Kern likes a piano you respect the piano. I never got to hear any of the pianos in the Rebuilders Gallery at Rochester before they were rebuilt. And I didn't hear anyone say "Yes, but what did it sound like before?" I don't believe Mark has given you the full story on the Baldwin D that will be retrofit. He has installed two new soundboards to try and get the sound he wants. Mark knows what he is doing with soundboard installation. From what Mark says it still doesn't sound the way he wants. What will Wapin do? I guess we'll find out, eh? Tim Coates On Nov 3, 2006, at 7:03 PM, Ron Overs wrote: > Mark and all, > > That's a good initiative you've come up with Mark.
