Hi Richard I agree that the heat/soaking/steaming... etc methods all leave something to be desired. Tho.. to be sure... one can and does get ones prefered method to work well enough. That said.. I keep thinking I'm going to try some kind of reamer in a drill press one day. If the reamer was oblong... such that its thin profile centered itself right between the bushing and its wide profile the desired width of the mortise.. well... why shouldnt that work nicely ? Prooooably tho...I'll not get around to trying this out. Hide glue.... this has to be my absolute favorite use for hide glue. Cheers RicB What are the opinions on the best bushing removal method? Are there any other methods out there that are less apt to cause trouble? I get a good final result, but I'm just not very happy with how I get there. Also the big reason why I like hot hide glue is that it provides a good, long-lasting glue joint that lets go when you want it to. In a university setting that's a great feature. I hope this isn't too basic for this esteemed list. Richard West
