Yes, Don. The operative words here would be "before it cures." Not thinking it would matter that much, I let it dry on my hands with the intention of "cleaning up" later. None of those solvents worked on my hands when I tried them, AFTER the glue had dried!!!!! :>( jeannie -----Original Message----- From: caut-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:caut-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of Don Sent: Thursday, November 09, 2006 9:37 PM To: College and University Technicians Subject: Re: [CAUT] gorilla glue (or will these hands ne're be clean?) Hi Jeannie, Acetone, denatured alcohol and mineral spirits are solvents for polyurethane adhesives. They are very useful in cleaning up excess adhesive from joints before the adhesive has cured as well as, removing the adhesive from the skin and other surfaces. They can also be used to thin the "thickened" glue--mineral spirits are probably safer than the acetone for this purpose. http://www.woodworking.org/WC/GArchive98/4_29ringstuck.html It is an all purpose polyurethane wood glue which is catalyzed by moisture. Once cured it is totally resistant to solvents yet excess can be easily removed with a scraper, chisel or sandpaper. http://www.process-controls.com/raebrooke/adhesives_glue.html At 07:11 PM 11/9/2006 -0800, you wrote: > I echo Richard’ It is next to impossible to get off your >skin until you grow it off.
