They were just bad sounding. I've taken the concert class at Yamaha and think I know their way to voice, but I couldn't get tone out of them. I didn't like the hanging job either. Sloppy. (Now for Yamaha that is really out of character!) Taper was uneven on one side, arching was blunt ended. After a few months I gave up. Another tech might have made them work... I put some new Abels on and Voila! Tone. In the class that Ron Connors taught a few years back he said he's thrown away sets right after hanging them. It would be nice to have that budget!
