Good puzzler John. I bought one of those laser/infrared (?) thermometers ($38.00 harbor freight on sale for $9.95) and it works well. You might "take the pianos temperature" before and during sun stroke time. I found one piano nearly one hundred degrees in the sun when it was only 72 in the house.
