Hi Dennis, A D can be restrung with Pure Sound but the top octave needs Roslau or Mapes. Juan doesn't yet have the "extra strong" wire needed there. I haven't done a D with stainless but will be doing one this summer. Juan has the D scale specs and will sell you a package of wire for one piano plus extra for possible breakage. IOW, you don't need to buy tons of wire. Bad news is that the Euro is up... also, Juan requires a money wire. He doesn't yet take plastic or other methods. He's great to work with though. Let me know if you decide to do it because there are a few tips you should know. This wire doesn't like to be manhandled, for lack of a better word. I was hoping to restring one of our S&S D's this summer that sits in a small vocal hall with less than optimal climate control. I strung it up last time about 12 years ago and the wires are all rusted now. Dennis Johnson St. Olaf College
