I think I put on a new set. yes, I think that little strip (which seems to be there for looks only) must not be moth-proofed as well as most of the other felts. I've sometimes seen it all eaten up when the rest of the action seems fine. You may have been seeing carpet beetle, something one does not wish to have in one's house. Susan Kline
