Hi Barb... I think.. tho do not know... that this was more a warning to those brighter and more creative amoungst our midst to not try doing anything like drying your newly washed cat or other small pet in one of those things. There was a case of a small dog some years back... in which, given the US courts, the poor old lady whose pooch was fried actually won some millions against some microwave producer. To my knowledge the only thing that will damage a microwave oven is some kind of metal if used inside. No metal plates etc. Now.... the dry textiles might catch fire for all I know... but thats another matter. Cheers RicB OK, my experience in shopping for a microwave was that on the showroom floor, one never turned the oven on without a cup of water in it. I just looked on the net for information, but only saw a statement that "The oven should only be run with a load of water or food." The site didn't define food, though. ;-) I think moisture is the key here. Without it the oven might behave as though it's empty and then arcing or sparking could be a problem. br
