Hello Geoffrey,

One thing you wrote: "I am on good terms with the other two working techs in town, but seeking mentorship from active competitors is awkward."

Speaking as a wanting to slowly retire technician, I can say that you should reconsider this thought. Sure if you seek to get all the technician's business, it could feel akward, but if you ask them just to send the workload they don't want, they might be happy to do so. I personnally am in the position of having too much work and would love to see someone interested in working on less prestigious pianos to get experience and would gladly send work his way. My guess is that if you could open up with what you call the "competition", you could probably find someone that could use you to breathe a little easier depending on how busy that tech is.

Best of future to you.
