> taking care to keep the curl consistant, and will be interested >in seeing if there is any difference I think there is and try to minimize twist. Start by pulling enough wire out of the 1lb canister to install one loop. Hold the wire at one side of the loop with enough extended beyond the tuning pin hole to leave some to trim. Draw the wire back to the hitch pin and hold that position between your fingers. Release the length while maintaining your grip and position the wire (now coiled slightly) 90 degree to the hitch pin/strings and make your bend. The wire will now want to bend upwards. Place a slight downwards bend about 1 inch from the loop to secure at the hitch pin. Draw the two lengths out and cut the other side to length. Now you have both sides with the same coil orientation. Install the loop, the pin ends will be curled upwards. Draw one side with the Becket Tool as a gage for cutting to length and create your coil with the pin oriented vertically so as not to introduce twist, install. Draw the other side and install likewise. Bass string coils can be made with the pin 90 degree to the plate since you'll be inducing a twist anyway. -- Regards, Jon Page -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
