Alan Thanks for the links to the archives. I found the posts?I was looking for. I?knew someone had written about?back check heights?some time ago,?and lo and behold, it was me, about 2 and a half years ago. With key fully depressed but hammer not in check, the tail should be at about the same height as the backcheck. But this involves two variables (at least), tail length and backcheck height. If your tails are 27mm long (1 1/16"), this is a generally a good tail length and you can check your backcheck height relative to your tails. Search the archives by: Go to google Enter your search words followed by: site:ptg.org This will limit your search to the whole PTG site. If you want to limit it to either the CAUT or Pianotech lists do this: Go to google and enter your search words followed by: site:ptg.org/pipermail/caut for the cautlist or site:ptg.org/pipermail/pianotech for the pianotech list.
