<< I know the Wurzen felt is good, and this (Weikert) is supposed to be the "best of the best". (Of course) But is this felt like the old Steinway? Has anyone tried these hammers? >> I have, and I like them. They are soft. The two octaves on either end got a full eyedropper of 8:1 lacquer on the shoulders just to get them in the ballpark. Then four drops of the same on the strike point of all 88. A pianist that played them before and after noticed how much more controllable the sound was after the treatment. I expect that after 20 hours of play they will be the perfect combination of resilience, (for the fundamental) and compacted surface(for the upper partials). regards, Ed Foote RPT http://www.uk-piano.org/edfoote/index.html www.uk-piano.org/edfoote/well_tempered_piano.html <BR><BR><BR>**************<BR>The Average US Credit Score is 692.
