I've always had good luck with Yamaha felt, but I also like Steinway felt as well. I never learned more about dampers than from Ken Sloane at Oberlin.

While we are on the subject of dampers, I would like to hear what brands of damper felt has proven most effective for you all over the years.

You may select different kinds for different situations and that would be good to hear about as well.

One friend in a large rebuilding shop told me he always uses Steinway felt - on all pianos.

I have tried Renner, Steinway and the basic Piano Tek felt (?Tokiwa). The jury is still out for my favorite.

Damper work, to me, is one of the most challenging areas of rebuilding and I hope we will continue to discuss it.
