I think I heard it in a presentation Kent Webb gave when he was still with Baldwin. I have it on video somewhere.

The Baldwin Piano Service Manual says the key height for the SD10 is 2 9/16". The sharps are set 15/32" to 1/2" higher than the naturals. It doesn't say how this is measured.

I want to say I'm thinking that for Baldwin, the key height spec was measured to the top of the keytop. I have a roughly 10 year old Baldwin service manual, but since the move from the university I haven't been able to put my hands on it. It's in one of these boxes somewhere.

I think it the spec was 2 5/8, give or take 1/16. I worked there and made the gauges, but that was 10 years ago.

Rebuilding the action of an SD 10 and it appears that someone has already been monkeying with this one. The balance rail pins are almost buried in the mortise. The key ht. on the old action is 2 3/4" to the underside of the keytop. Does someone know what the original specs were? The piano action handbook says 2 9/16" for Baldwin concert grand but I didn't know if the SD10 would be different than a generic older Baldwin concert grand.

Also, original specs for hammer blow and dip if you know. I'll make my adjustments from there.

          Thanks.

          Bob
