[CAUT] monkey hanger

That was the thing. I didn't have a torch (and at the time, I think the only 
soldering iron I had was a 25 watt), which would have required time to go 
out and buy one and some sort of contraption for holding the rod, the wire, 
the torch, the solder, etc., and then, extra time to get reimbursed by the 
university for the purchase, not to mention the time required to do the 
repair.  Oh, and the mileage on my vehicle wouldn't have been reimbursed. 
It was just easier, and really probably not much more expensive to order 
one, and it was here in a couple of days.
