Greg: The brass used in agraffes isn't annealed in any classic sense. Annealing is a controlled temperature step-down process based on the molecular mechanical characteristics of materials (such as glass or porcelain), and designed to each material's needs. The alpha brass of agraffes (>34% zinc) is a very stable alloy; heating and cooling it does nothing. Well, it gets it hot, then chillier over time.
