[CAUT] scaling a Tyre harpsichord?

All the brass strings were breaking
in this famous make of harpsichord
because of chemical residue
from the tuning pin blackening.

Not copied is a photo of a blackened wrought iron pin. He does not name the maker. My one encounter with a Hill and Tyre harpsichord had similar pins, but so do many makers.
