[CAUT] Steinway verdigris

Dunno for sure Gerry but....
  I've seen it in pianos from about 1910 ish thru 1955.  The M I worked on built in  1953 ish was I worked on when I was quite young in the late 70s and by then it was already violently ill. It has had a successful action transplant and is now in good health
