[CAUT] New suggestions for practice room pianos

I have played several Hailuns (remember, I'm a pianist and dept. chair, not a tech).  They are very good pianos, and a terrific value.  I'm looking at pianos for our new facility, and considering some Hailuns, as well as Mason & Hamlins.   A local dealer "lent" us a 7' 2" Hailun grand for a temporary performance venue.  Over 1 ½ years it has held up very well, and everyone who plays it is very impressed.  When I first saw and played it, I thought it seemed like a hybrid of American and European pianos, with no Asian accent.  (No, I don't represent them!)

I'm also considering a Sauter concert grand.  I played a concert on one, and the one I played was superior.  I would be very happy to hear from anyone who has experience with them.

All,

Last night at our chapter meeting I played on 3 "HAILUN" uprights. One was 52" and the others 48". They were VERY good. The dealer gave his spiel about them, but have any of you tried them? For $5,500.00 they seemed great.

Dear list members,

Our music departent was awarded enough money to replace about 15 verticals for the practice rooms, and the dean asked if I could suggest which models to look into.

Right how we're leaning toward U-1's.   What do you like/don't like, and why?

I know we have dealt with brand comparisons on this list in the past, but I am suspecting that the market may have undergone some changes since those discussions.

Also any recommendations as far as who is good to deal with in the southeast (Atlanta or Birmingham), would be appreciated.
