Hi Vince, ---------- From: Vince Mrykalo[SMTP:REEVESJ@ucs.byu.edu] Sent: Monday, July 31, 1995 5:52 AM To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: knuckle size and centerpin height In Don and Randy Morton's class on the grand action, given in=20 Albuqueque, Randy mentioned that the reason a smaller knuckle may give a better results is because the centerpin location on=20 the hammer flange may be too low. He stated that his research indicates that by raising the pin's location at the flange by=20 2mm on the Steinway shanks and flanges and I think, the other=20 styles as well (Tokiwa), gives the best results when replacing=20 parts, because that is where the original placement was. FWIW. =20 I may be simply having semantic problems here, but I don't understand wha= t he meant by "raising the pin's location at the flange." Does he mean s= himming up the whole flange by 2mm, or is he talking about a manufacturin= g problem? Otherwise, the concept makes sense to me. Mark (a pox on Microsoft - no SIG file in this build of Microsoft Exchange :Q)=
