Combination answer (to all damper "oink", "jup", ("Juhn"), and other--name
noises.
I found that most of them are by far in the "flat" damper area. That includes
the 1/2 and 1/2 kind in the tenor section. Peeling works well on flats, not so
well on stiched flats (but it can be done). Sanding LIGHTLY on all of them. For
those who are interested, Judith Palmer of Bala Cynwyd, PA,
(215) 667-9567 makes a tool for filing all kinds. (I get no commissions!).
"Shaking" dampers are a horse from a different garage -- the guide rail bushings
must be done first, then -- the dampers may not shake and make no "oinking"
"juping" or any-th-ing noises.
