Steinway & Sons sold

     The New York Times reports that the selling price for Steinway
was 100 million (!!) dollars.  The company was on the market only four
months before a buyer was found.  The Birminghams, who bought the
company in 1985, say they "beat inflation by a little bit" on their
ten year investment.  The Times also reports that there widespread
amazement that the company fetched as much as money as it did.  I sure
would like to know the inside story.
