Thanks everyone for your input. Two items I would like to present: 1. If you twist them initially, what happens down the road, say ten years or so, when you need to enliven them, and 2. In my case, only the bass strings were replaced. As lively as these Mapes strings sounded, I would think that a brighter sound would clash with their higher pitched and aged counterparts. PS.
