Regarding SEM studies, John Minor wrote: >How about piano wire that has been at pitch for 45 years or so! Compared >to new wire maybe.... SEM images of the surface of piano wire won't tell much about it's physical properties, just wether it's smooth or rough. I beleive that a valid process for comparative studies of piano wire would be to cut and polish cross sections of the wire and photograph the cross sections under polarized light. The results should be a rather psychodelic representation of the crystalline structure. No can do... Try MIT... Actually, maybe I'll try MIT. I have some contacts there. Any word of this having been done before? ____ David /||||\ Stanwood Stanwood@tiac.net (o o) West Tisbury, Massachusetts USA --oOO--( )--OOo----- On the Island of Martha's Vineyard
