I followed the advice of a Sloane to cure porcine damper tone. I'm as happy by it as a pig in spit now that the squeal's been brought down to a moan. The following, from the fifth notebook of P.D.Q. Bach, has long been overlooked by musical scholars as not pertinent to the interpretation or perfomermance of music by this or other members of the Bach family. A sloane in that time was a keyboard musician, usually intinerant and unemployed, and generally so because of a persistence in playing with one hand on the keyboard and the other at the tuning pins, as opposed to the standard deployment of both hands at the keyboard. As can be imagined, sloane music fell in popularity, but has reappeared in the last hundred years as a form of manual, menial labor. Read 'em and weep!
