Larry,

You should know better than to listen to a salesman!

This feature was invented by Steinway, and was originally called the "Shoe."
Another company, when copying this feature, decided that "shoe" didn't have
enough marketing pizazz, hence the term "Tone Collector."  This term has
henceforth been copied by other piano makers.  The "Chamber" is a figment of
someone's imagination, methinks.
