Fork or Float

Sy,
The first thing that came to my mind was why is someone that puts enough
emphasis on teaching that she is using double S&S's only tuning twice a
year? I would try selling her on the concept of so may more tunings per
year that the tuning doesn't have a chance to float. Use phrases like
"establishing a consistant ear in her better students for perfect
tuning" and "assisting her perfect pitch students in honing the
foundation of perfect A440.
Otherwise, in other situations floating is almost a neccesity like
tuning in a church where a piano has to match the organ. I replaced a
tuner here that didn't know to ask for the temperature to be raised/
lowered to "Sunday morning" level so when I turned on the organ (we're
talking real one here not electronic) to find out what frequ. mid c was
at on a 4' Principal, the pipe had expanded/contracted and air density
(humidity) was at a point that the piano could be matched correctly.
