Jim D;
With due regard to Don R. we have had fiction in the journal for years.
Remember the article that ran which suggested you could/should cut old
strings with a cold chisel placed on the plate bearing bar and tapping
sharply, and that doing so without releasing tension eased the job ? And how
about the humorous ad for 'molecular purified piano soundboard water',
although that came from The Valley Tech and I'm not sure if that was fiction
or just plain madness! A little fiction, addressed in a constructive manner,
is certainly acceptable and I bet that it would receive a wider readership
than most of the highly technical tuning articles. Wait!! I'm not saying that
these articles are not beneficial but you have to admit that it takes some
study of each one in order to derive benefit from it. If you are like me, I
am still trying to figure out how to use an SAT, a little of these type
articles goes a long way. The advantage of having a journal is that everyone
has an opportunity to submit articles and if somone would rather submit an
article written in a fiction style, so be it. The only judge as to whether or
not an article should be published is the benefit the readership will derive
from it and Steve has been doing a good job of deciding that.

"dislexia" --spell checker broke Jim ? Besides forsing me to use mi spell
cheker is unfare, her is in NC. We need to bear in mind that some of the
persons on the list are writing to us in their second or third language and
that they probably do a better job with english than we can do in their
native language.
Now Jim, be gentle with me I'm in crisis, I just discovered that
'diminished fifth' has a meaning besides being a half empty bottle of
Southern Comfort.
