Ed, Boy. What did you get going here? Let's see now. You said I was the closest so far, and I said: >Sounds to me like too tight pinning, maybe in the jacks? I guess also the >same could be in the hammer and wippen flanges? >Repair: repin and/or protek CLP? I just read your final clues so there went my (almost) final guess. My last comment would be too much friction but you used a lubricant other than the protek CLP on the wippen flanges. Any closer? Or possibly burrs on the capstans? I love/hate this type of thing. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out what the problem is, whether or not I can fix it. :-) So, enough stabs in the dark. Anxiously awaiting tomorrow's post. Avery >THIS IS GREAT! I see eveybody going through the paths that I went through, >and they don't even have the action on the bench!! Who woulda thunk it! > >Here is some more clues, >1. The key has nothing to do with it >2. the repetition lever has nothing to do with it >3. Avery was closer than anybody....................... >4. Randy has the answer, but he had an inside track! Your "final clues" post: >1. Action adjustment screws had nothing to do with the problem >2. The pinning had nothing to do with the problem >3 All whippens were removed for this repair >4. Nothing was taken, nothing was added > >ANSWER TOMORROW !! _____________________________________ Avery Todd, RPT Moores School of Music University of Houston 713-743-3226 atodd@uh.edu _____________________________________
