Dear Barb:

When nothing is sure, Dampp-Chasers are possible. I've always enjoyed your
comment so I thought I would turn it on you. Every area and every technician
has had either some experience or no expericence with Dampp-Chaser humidity
control systems. No experience? Give it a try (with some advice), it works!
A bad experience is either from a lack of knowledge, poor installation or
both. Currently, the best solution for sealing in the good air and keeping
out the bad is a 100% wool string cover (Edwards String Covers, CA) in
combination with a Dampp-Chaser system. DC is working on an underside cover
to help keep the good air in and the bad air out. I highly recommend a mylar
shield for vertical pianos in combination with a Dampp-Chaser system. The
mylar shield covers the back of the piano, keeps the bad air off the
soundboard, keeps the good air in and has NO effect on the sound. I am
always happy to answer questions.

Best Regards and Happy Holidays,
