Bob Simmons,

Regarding 2/5/96 as follows:

One of my clients is considering taking their Knabe upright (60-70 yr old)
to Germany with them. They'll be back in the states in 3 years. Moving the
piano from Southern California (desert, so-called where humidity changes
rapidly from 20-80%) to Germany (where I understand it is consistently more
humid) doesn't strike me as too bad, but I'm wondering if any of you have
seen any problems with pianos coming back from Gemany. they don't know what
ppart of the states they will return to.

Any warning bells I should sound for them?

My obvious answer would be to install a humidity control system. Use the
5PS-50 120V normally used in this country. Provide a transformer for use in
Germany. It can be purchased from Allied Electronics at 800-433-5700 and is
their part # 928-0302. It is made by Stancor and their model # is GSD-150.
The specifications are 150UA Power rating or 1.25 amps at 115 volts. 230
volts in, 115 volts out 50/60 Hz. Its cost 3 years ago was $ 56.67.
