Many thanks to those of you who offered suggestions in response to my question about the advisibility of tuning a fortepiano down from A=430 to A=115. As a result of a recent cold wave, I found that the instrument had already dropped to about A=420 during the holidays; so, it was little trouble to take it on down the rest of the way. As predicted, it was somewhat less brilliant. The fun may be when it comes time to bring it back up 60 cents. Fortunately I have a good stock of soft iron wire! Gratefully, Charles
