OFFICE MEMO Re New Action Parts Problem Date: 1/31/96

I wrote a long and detailed article about "Drum Repetition" in the Oct., '89
Journal. There was a long response to the article in the Jan., '90 Journal, my
response to that in the Feb., '90 Journal (along with a response from Doug
Wood), and finally Steinway's response in the June, '90 Journal. All of the
above deals in great detail with the problem John Minor originally described
in the Steinway "D" he encountered (the one that received replacement parts).
Parts of different design and action geometry, mass, friction, inertia,
acceleration, string height, action regulation, back check design and height,
etc., etc. are discussed. If you are having problems like John described, you
should check the articles out.
